A Constant State of Bewilderment

So for 14 days in January I had the great blessing to go to Italy. Here are some of my favorite memories and pictures from the trip. This won't even scratch the surface of how many photos I took, 1,066 to be exact but hopefully it will give you all a taste. Enjoy!

On our first day in Rome, I spotted a super cute old couple walking on a street below the plaza we were on.

One of the many more main roads in Rome we wandered down. This long stretch decided to show some Italian pride.

An example of a smaller road we found ourselves on.

My friend and I throwing glitter into the Trevi fountain in honor of a mutual friend.

The ruins of Pompeii. The city is located next to a volcano and at one time it erupted covering the city in ash. The people left behind were petrified and the city was abandoned. Seeing what life was like was extremely fascinating.

This is our guide, who was fabulous but I could not understand a thing he said. He was an old school Italian who let his thick accent roll.

This is Florence. Small shops and fresh food. My favorite city of all the ones we visited by far. I loved the quaint atmosphere.

What a view! This does no justice to the sites of Florence. I could have never left.

Just a photo I really enjoy. We were in the courtyard of the Duomo.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa!

The view from the top!

Venice. A city made up of 114 islands and 440 bridges. The city is also sinking. It may even be completely under water by 2025. Hopefully though, it will not be because this city possesses so much character and beauty.

I had to restrain how many Venice pictures I posted since almost every one I love. Here are a few that give you a glimpse into the Venetian landscape.

Gondolas are old fashioned and romantic but they can cost easily 80 Euro.

The boys were obsessed with the extremely friendly pigeons and played with them for at least an hour.

Another cute old couple I stumbled upon in a park in Milan.

Children who were messing with the love locks. Couples place locks with their names on them on bridges to "lock" their love. They then throw the key into the river.

The sunset from the top of the Cathedral. We could see the entire city. It was absolutely breathtaking.

I made new friends, got lost so many times, adventured, mastered the metro, got pooped on by a pigeon, walked through the middle of a political protest and walked about 186,588 steps, which is about 93 miles! The entire trip was incredible and I am so grateful for the chance to see the world. Check out Facebook for more of the fun pictures!
